My first approach to photography was with 35mm film, black & white portraits. Through B & W photography, I found from the beginning a more direct connection with the poetic ancestral imagery that bridges towards the delicate reverie of life.
When I photograph, I can feel touching with the eye what is behind the apparent. The human landscape intrigues me. From the young graceful expression, to the stoic ancient faces of the wise. I am pulled by the spontaneous freedom of the child as much as from the sculpted faces reflecting experiences of the mosaic of life…
When I travel, I am pulled by human expressions shaped by that landscape that brings feeling, culture, color, movement and identity to the place.
A more obvious and approachable reality of color came later and through it; I seek for the intensity of contrast between the golden and stormy light, as much as the natural earthy color pouring out from the iris, to the skin to the landscape where we belong.
In my portraits; I seek for the windows of the soul, the languid delicate gesture that reveals the essence of the being, the awakened consciousness rising up, manifesting, and impregnating that precise instant that will never be repeated again…
