Walt Curtis – Tribute to the Poet

  A 20 minutes version of the latest film that featured Walt Curtis; the indomitable, charismatic, cursed poet, painter and novelist of Portland, OR.
His novel ¨Mala Noche¨, translated in recent years by Hachette in France; was turned into a film in the 1970s by the well-known independent filmmaker Gus Van Sant.
Influenced by visionary poets like William Blake, Walt was part of endless poetry events.
During his youth, he read with beat generation poets such as Allen Ginsberg, and known authors such as William S. Burroughs and Ken Kesey.
For 40 years he co-hosted a poetry program on KBOO radio station in Portland, OR.

The United States has lost a genius poet, one of the greatest ones on august, 25th 2023 – It will take some time until this country realizes the immense legacy of Walt Curtis in the arts, his influence and the monumental poetry work he leaves behind.
